List of Etsy teams in the UK including local teams, themed teams and UK wide teams

Hello everyone!

Today I thought I would tell you all a little bit about Etsy Teams as well as share my list of Etsy Teams in the U.K. I realise from using Twitter and being part of some sellers groups that often people don't know about Etsy Teams or if one exists in their area so I have decided to put together this list of Etsy Teams across the U.K.

I hope that you will find it useful!

What is an Etsy Team?

Etsy Teams are a feature within Etsy where members can start up community groups or join an existing community group.

Each team has their own link and team forum. The team forum is used in different ways by different teams but often are used as a place to socialise, gain advice and support in running your Etsy shop and connect with other sellers.

Teams can be on any theme. For example you could have "Cat Lovers Team" or "Vintage Sellers UK Team" as well as global, national or local Etsy teams.

Who runs Etsy Teams?

Teams are not run by Etsy but instead are run by sellers themselves who volunteer for the role.

Each team will have one captain and this captain might also assign leaders to help them run the team or have volunteers take on different roles within the team.

Why join a Local Etsy Team?

Local Etsy Teams can be really helpful for gaining advice and support from those living locally. There are often issues that affect you which might not be the case nationwide or worldwide or local advice you can gain from using the team forum (for example the best craft shops to go to or the best places to get something printed locally).

Teams often work together on promotional opportunities so is a great way to get the word out about your shop to a local market.

In addition, many teams also put on local meet ups, events, craft parties and selling events so joining a team can be really social and a way to meet other members.

I would really recommend searching out your local Etsy teams and joining the community. You never know, you might sudden discover that your next door neighbour is also an Etsy seller!

Why join a themed team, a broader UK team, international/ global team?

Themed teams are perfect for connecting with members/ sellers who have a common interest with you. If you are looking for advice, support and to network with others in the same field as you this is a great way to do so. Some teams are themed on things like product time (for example, there is a UK photo team) and others bring together people who are interested in the same things but may not be at all shop related (for example, the UK Home Edders team is for those who home educate).

UK teams, international teams and global teams are also great to join. Many run social media campaigns, have really active online forums and ways to get involved. There are a huge amount of teams globally so I couldn't even start to list them all (!!) but you can search here to find ones which might appeal to you https://www.etsy.com/uk/teams

What should you look for in a team?

There are so many teams to choose from it can be difficult to know which ones to join. I would suggest looking for a few teams which really interest you and you would like to get involved with rather than joining lots and lots of teams.

Bigger isn't always better (!). Look for the teams which are really active, where members seem really engaged and excited to be part of the community.

Am I missing a really great team!?

If I am missing any please do contact me either by tweeting me @thedorothydays, sending me an Etsy convo or leaving a comment on this blog post and I will add it to the list. There are lots of teams which are no longer active or more than one team in one area so I will try and select the most active teams.

Item of the Week - Fairy/ Angel necklace

Hello everyone!

Super excited to share with you my new angel/ fairy necklace which I made just before Christmas.

She has a really detailed bell shaped dress, little wings, a pearl for a head and long dangle chains which adds some length to the necklace and adds to its prettiness.

She is part of a series of three angel necklaces that I have made for my shop.

Hope that you like it!

Item of the week - Wanderlust globe necklace

Hey everyone!

I had a hard time choosing what the first item of the week for 2016 would be! In the end I decided to settle on this globe necklace to be the first item of the week as, as cheesy as it sounds, I feel like the world is my oyster this year!

The necklace is brand new to my Etsy shop having listed it just before Christmas. It is on a long chain which reaches just under boob length and looks super cute when worn with a cute dress (but also equally nice with jeans and a top!).

Perfect for anyone with serious wanderlust!

My favourite thing about this necklace....the globe turns!! How cute is that?!

Item of the Week - Retro style brooch handmade by The Dorothy Days

Hello everyone!

Hope you are all having a fantastic weekend. My item of the week for this week is my retro style handmade brooch. This is one of my favourite items in my shop. I individually make each brooch. The process involves sanding, printing, drying, heating, cooling and gluing. The brooch looks super cute pinned to a summer dress, a jacket or even a bag.

Take a look at the brooch in my shop by clicking HERE

What I have been up to the last few weeks....

Hey everyone,

Wow, it has been a busy few weeks and nice to take some time out to reflect and tell you all what I have been up to. Highlights were the Women of the World festival on the Southbank which was AMAZING and my trip to Cornwall both of which I will tell you about in a separate blog post (as I am likely to get some excited and carried away with photos!) but in between that this is what I have been up to...

Rufus has gone on holiday/ dog training camp as he is still being a little terror! The house is so quiet without him but I have been getting little updates and it sounds like he is having a great time and hopefully will come back having made a lot of progress with his retraining. His hair is so long at the moment he looks like a little fluff ball.

I have been having some photography lessons in hope that I will be able to improve my shop photography, I have learnt lots and got to play around with this beast!  Great fun and really useful too.
Can't wait to get going photographing new items for my shop.

A day trip to beautiful Kent. I have only been once to Kent so it was lovely to have some time to explore and have a look around. We took a day out to Scotney Castle. It is a stunning National Trust property surrounded by beautiful countryside.

Here is the house itself, what a beautiful building. We had a little tour around the grounds, castle and house.

and of course tea had to feature....! Check out my Moomin mug!

Style Saturday - Patina - Interior styling for 2015

Hello everyone,

Welcome to the first Style Saturday of 2015! I really enjoyed doing the Style Saturday posts last year (a great excuse to look at beautiful things!) so hope to continue this and make this a weekly feature in 2015. I am really looking forwards to the spring so I thought I would share with you today a spring inspired look. It has beautiful greeny/yellow hues like the buds in spring with the grey and blue of the crisp spring skies. I think I have been watching too many Grand Designs but I also love the combination of wood and steel with materials which natural patination will occur such as copper. I have always thought of this as an outside feature but I love the idea of bringing items into the home as well.

What do you think? Love it or loathe it? Let me know in the comments section below!

Working on improving my product photography!

Hello everyone!

I can't believe it is actually June! The weather certainly isn't that of June weather but I am hoping for some sunshine soon!

I thought I would share with you all today some things I have been working on over in my shop. A couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to take part in an online photography webinar which taught me how to take better product photographs. I am still at the experimentation stage but already have seen improvements in my photographs which is really exciting!

Example of a before photograph....

This really does not show off my tags very well at all! The colour doesn't look correct, the lighting is poor and the angle makes the tag look a little odd!

After photograph:

Still a work in progress and there is still lots I can improve with this photograph but it is MUCH better than the previous photograph so I think I am on the right tracks! I took this photograph on a day that the weather wasn't great and the sunflowers cheered me up! One of my Twitter followers suggested I use a rose next time which I loved the idea of so will be doing soon (thanks for the suggestion!).

Please click here to view in my shop

What do you all think of the new and improved photograph? and do you have any other suggestions for improvement?

Best wishes

Dorothy Days features...Madelena from Brocante Art

Hello everyone :),

Today I am featuring Madalena from BrocanteArt for my Feature Friday feature. Madalena is based in England in the beautiful historic town of Berkhamsted. Her shop is a treasure trove of  vintage and antique haberdashery. Madalena has a background in Art and design and 'enjoys adding a little conceptual twist to [her] styling and photos' so all of her product listings are beautifully photographed and are like art photography in themselves.

She is a collector of haberdashery and sells her surplus on Etsy and also at local fairs. She says 'I find it hard to part with some of my pieces at times' and I can see why, her products are absolutely beautiful! She has her own collection of antique lace and says that she is "truly passionate, sometimes obsessed with vintage and antique haberdashery".

Here are some of my favourite items from her shop....

I love this collection of four antique spools. They are on wooden bobbins and were made by the French manufacturer Dollfus Mieg & Co. Please take a look here

This selection of vintage lace would be great for little craft projects.

I wish I had something I could make with this lovely early 20th C French ruffle tape

In other exciting news.....
My Poole Pottery jug has been featured on the Etsy Contest which I wrote about in this blog post. I would really appreciate if you would vote for me in it. You can do so by clicking here and clicking my jug

Have a wonderful weekend

Daily Etsy Contest

Hi everyone,
I hope you are enjoying the glorious sunshine! It is so beautiful today and feels like summer has finally arrived!  I thought I would share with you today a website I found which is called Daily Etsy Contest. It is really good fun and also a great way to gain exposure if you are an Etsy sellers. The idea is that you submit your shop and the contest randomly chooses you for a day (you can also try and submit to a category instead). The day will have a theme such as blue items or items between $4-5 and then one item from your shop will be selected. People then vote for their favourite items from the items which come up at random. It gets rather addictive going through a voting but is really good fun!

Here is an example of what it will look like. You click your favourite and then it will show you how many votes that item has got, at the end of day there shall be winning item.

I entered my earrings and they did rather well :) and I also had my gift tags entered for me which was a lovely surprise. I have also entered myself into another one of their categories so hopefully shall get featured on that one. It is a lovely way to discover new shops on Etsy and gain some exposure for my things too.
