Item of the Week: To and From handmade gift tags

It seems that as soon as it turned September people started mentioning Christmas. Not Christmas crazy but just little mentions here and there! I know a lot of crafters (myself included) have started preparing for Christmas. People often ask why we prepare so early. It is because it is such a busy period that we need to try and get lots of items made to be able to keep up with orders so I always try and use August which is a bit of a quieter time to prepare and make new stock. This is also what high street shops do, they prepare their stock way in advance to make sure they have everything prepared. But, unlike highstreet shops I continue making orders and new stock right the way up until Christmas time! I always feel like a bit of a Christmas elf with all the making, gift wrapping and posting!

For my item of the week this week I wanted to share with you all my handmade gift tags. I have made a few packs of these for my shop recently as they are always popular in the run up to Christmas.

I am going to be making the tags in different colours soon as well including in red and green for Christmas colours and also in brown for a more rustic style. The great thing about the tags is that they can also be used for birthdays, anniversaries etc not just for Christmas.

My 'To: From:' tags are available to purchase over in my Etsy shop. Please view them by clicking here: https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/200896930/to-from-gift-tags-in-white-luggage-label

I am always happy to do custom orders. Please contact me if you require a different quantity or in a different colour!

Happy July!

Hello everyone,

Wow, isn't the weather amazing today?! Beautiful blue skies and sunshine and only a small breeze. It is beautiful out there. Really can't believe it is July, June seemed to flash by and before I knew it the whole month had gone, does anyone else feel that way?

Thank you everyone who has been reading the blog the last few weeks, has been great to see the stats showing people from all round the world reading my blog and put a big smile on my face.

I have been working hard behind the scenes with the shop recently and I am excited to be bringing a new line of tags out soon (you heard it first here!!).

Going to keep most of it a secret but they will include different colour tags as well as different designs. Eeeek, I am so excited!

Thanks again for reading my blog

Hope you all are enjoying the sunshine

Tuesday = Shop day (or so my new blogging schedule says!)

Hello everyone!

Well I am trying to stick to a new blogging schedule to make sure that I do actually blog as I my blog has been rather sadly neglected over the last few months and posts have been a bit few and far between! The world's most unorganised person (thats me if you didn't get where this was going...!) is trying to get organised and I decided that a blogging schedule was just the remedy. So I have decided Tuesday are going to be the day in which I show you what I have been up to in the shop and share any super exciting shop news! Wish me luck in trying to stick to this!!

The items from my shop that I am sharing today are my handmade tags. I have been super busy preparing new designs for the shop and also re-photographing some of my old designs (which I showed you a before and after shot on the post a few days ago).

I am rather pleased with how they have turned out and really like the new designs which I have in the shop.
Floral tea cup tags to match my vintage tea cups! I sell these in different sizes and do custom orders for any amount required but they are currently stocked in 10, 20 and 30

Mission was to make as many tea related items in my shop as possible! This is one of my new designs and I am really pleased with how it came out, so pretty! I thought these would be lovely for a vintage style wedding or a tea party! Stocking these in packs of 100 but also do custom orders for any amount

What do you all think? Do you like the new design and what do you think of the new shop photography?

Dreaming of the summer-- Feature Friday by The Dorothy Days

Hello everyone :) !

Today is Friday so time for Feature Friday but this week I thought I would do something a little different. Instead of having a feature on one Etsy shop I thought this week I would feature 1 item from lots of different shops that I love :). We have been getting some really cold weather here in the U.K (snow and sleet) so I thought I would do a summer theme to cheer us all up and make us think of the lovely summer months! As always I invite my blog viewers to have a look around the shops. This is a fantastic way to support independent businesses and to buy something that is unique and a bit special :).

First up we have this gorgeous vintage blouse from the shop Telafiera which is run by Vivian from California

This would look so cute for the summer to wear casually like it is show above or you could also dress it up by wearing with a skirt and some jewellery. I love it!!

I also found these lovely set of three Coca cola trays. These would be lovely for serving drinks on for a  summer BBQ and are being sold by Jenn

I adore cats eye glasses and here are a pair of vintage ones in perfect condition ....what isn't there to love?! They are being sold by Sadie from SweetHavenn.

My summer is always filled with BBQs, bike rides and picnics in the countryside so these vintage style gift tags being sold by Velowoman really made me think of lazy summer days.

This handmade paper bowl out of recycled paper is beautiful. Take a look at it in OkiFolki's shop.

Hope that you all enjoyed this feature :)

Have a wonderful weekend

Handmade hair grips/ bobbypins by The Dorothy Days

Hello everyone,

I hope you are all enjoying this glorious sunshine. I have been really enjoying sitting outside for breakfast and having tea and toast in the garden, feels great to be out in the fresh air and I can't believe how hot it is even in the morning! The sun has already made my hair much blonder and all my freckles have come out! I love the summer so much but I am torn between spending all my time sat outside in the garden in the sunshine or watching the Olympics.

Last night's opening ceremony was amazing,  felt so proud to be British. There was so much to see, it must have been amazing to be there. The music was really great too. Today I watched some of the swimming and gymnastics which was really enjoyable. What events did everyone else watch ? and which events shall you be following ?

In between sitting in the garden and watching the Olympics, I did some creating for my Etsy shop and made some hair grips/slides (bobby pins) which match my new rose earrings.

I am selling them in sets of three and they come on a hand stamped gift tag as I thought it looked pretty and also meant that people could give them as an alternative to a card or could write their own message on them if they were giving them as gift. It is also a nice way to store them.

What do you all think ? Would love to hear your feedback on them.

Here is the link to them in my store and I have also uploaded a photograph of one in my model's hair.

Observant readers will also notice that I have changed my blog background to white. I would love your opinions on the new look as well, I thought it looked a bit 'fresher'? Love it or loathe it, please let me know :).

Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend

A busy few days...

Hi everyone :),
I have been very busy the last few days making new items for my shop and am rather pleased and excited with the results so thought I would share some photographs of the work in progress! I had great fun choosing new stamps, cutters and inks for the gift tags and after running a poll on my facebook page it has been decided to use cream as the gift tag colour as it was the most popular by far. I have bought some new heart stamps and cutters for Valentines gift tags as it is fast approaching! Please let me know what you think of the results :).
Here are some of my new tools that I have been using to make my new gift tags designs.

My gift tags lined up waiting to dry!

You can probably tell by now that tea cups have become a bit of an obsession of mine so I couldn't resist this little tea cup design stamp...its so cute!!!
These have been really popular when I have been selling them at craft fairs so much so that I had run out of stock! I have been making lots more this week and each pack (10 in each) comes ribbon tied.

A finished pack of purple hearts. These will be lovely for Valentines days and I plan to wrap my boyfriend's presents with these tags.

Please let me know what you think of the results and if there are any patterns/ designs that you would like to see made.
