Spring Peace- A beautiful collection that I was featured in

Hey everyone,

This week one of my tea cups of featured in a really beautiful Etsy treasury collection by an artist called Caroline who is from Canada. The collection's theme is Spring (if you didn't guess that already hehe!)  I really love the colours and it reminds me of that lovely fresh air and spring blooms which you get at this time of year  so I thought I would share it with you all.

All items are avaliable to buy on Etsy.

Big thanks to Caroline for featuring me :)

New things!!!!

Hello everyone :) !

Hope that you have been having a wonderful day and that this week is a good week for you all. Today I have to admit I have been having a rather lazy day! I spent the day sitting out in the sunshine with family and friends and drinking lots of tea and then cooked an amazing Thai curry for supper :).

My lazy day today makes up for my day on Sunday, although supposed to be a day of rest I was super busy! I woke up early and decided to have a change around of the living room. You know one of those ideas which seems like a really good idea but half way through isn't?! Well I managed to break the TV aeriel and so have been without television until this evening! It took me forever to make it work again. I wouldn't normally mind as I don't really watch that much TV anyway but at the moment the Paralympics are on so I have been so annoyed that I have been missing bits. I have been reading the news and twitter to try and keep up to date and watched some clips online on the news sites but its not quite the same!

I also photographed lots of my new vintage stock which was exciting :) and have loaded some new items to my shop :). It took me the whole day but I am really pleased with the photographs and even took new photographs for some of the stock already listed as I feel the new photos show off my items much better :). I have listed about 6 new items. I thought I would show you a small selection of my new photos and listings. What do you all think ?!

This photo I am particually proud of :) The orchid was for my birthday present :)

This is one of my favourite of the new cups I have listed. The colours just make me want to smile :) ! Listed here

So far all the newly listed tea cups seem to have gone down well and I have had a few likes on facebook and quite a few views and favourites on Etsy which is always lovely :). My pink and white rose teacup has also been featured in a treasury already which is so exciting :) especially as its only been listed for 24 hours!!!

A lady called Ruth has made a beautiful tea themed treasury with some stunning items in it. She certainly has an eye for treasuries and I love every item that she has featured especially the Brighton bus tea cosy!!! Makes me feel at home :) !

Here is Ruth's beautiful treasury (thank you so much for including me!!)

My hubby and I can't resist a good cuppa, and not only is it tasty and refreshing, it also has health benefits. So I thought I'd celebrate our love of having a good old cuppa with this treasury list. Put your feet up and enjoy!

Dorothy Days Item of the Week

Hi everyone :),

Thought I would share with you all my item of the week for this week. This week my favourite item in my shop is this beautiful violet tea set / teacup trio

It comes with a beautiful tea cup, saucer and cake plate which would be perfect for afternoon tea especially in this beautiful weather we have been having recently! The set is made from English bone china and has gilt edges which make it really delicate and elegant.

The Techniques:
1) Gilding is the method of applying gold to an object, in this case the rim of the tea cup, saucer and cake plate. This has the effect of sparkling slightly in the light and really makes this an elegant piece.

2) The set is made from bone china Bone china is a difficult type of china to work in and is labour intensive but the results mean that the china has a beautiful translucence and whiteness and is also stronger and more chip resistant than other forms of porcelain china. The technique was developed in England first by Thomas Frye in 1748 and then perfected by Josiah Spode between 1789- 93. Up until the end of the 20th century was almost exclusively an English technique. It is a lovely material to drink out of and the tea cups made in this china also look wonderful as display pieces.

The motif is violets/ viola and the purple flowers are really striking and dainty at the same time which matches the dainty material. I love this color purple, I think it is one of my favourite colours.

Hope that you have enjoyed this blog post and learnt a little bit about this little tea cup. You can find it here in my shop.

English Roses

One of my favourite things about the summer time are the beautiful roses. I live in the countryside so I am fortunate to have a garden which has lots of different roses. When they come into bloom the garden smells beautiful and also looks so lovely. There is also a rose garden in a near by manor house which is open to the public in the summer months. It is absolutely beautiful and I could spend all day there reading and relaxing among the roses. Summer is a little while off so here are a selection of English roses from my shop.

Rose Gold

Hi everyone!

I have been included in this lovely treasury today called 'Rose Gold' which was chosen by a lady living in Los Angeles. The pieces complement each other beautifully and I love the theme so I thought I would share. It includes my newly listed english rose tea cup and saucer.

Hope all of you in England are enjoying the weather, it feels like an early summer here. Its beautiful!
